2ND ANNUAL DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION HACKATHON
Hackathon took place from the 22nd to 23rd of February 2023. Organized by NextGen Center in collaboration with prominent partners from the UAE government and industry leaders, the hackathon served as a platform for nurturing innovation and fostering the digital transformation journey.
The primary goals of the hackathon were to enhance the employability of Zayed University students, promote digital transformation as a means of achieving sustainability, provide a collaborative platform for ZU students to work alongside peers from across the UAE, and increase partner involvement with ZU student activities. The event aims to empower students to tackle real-world challenges and create innovative solutions within the domains of digital transformation, AI, and machine learning.
Key Highlights:
- Theme: Hackathons revolved around the themes of Digital Transformation, AI, and Machine Learning, reflecting the dynamic nature of the digital landscape.
- Competition/Cooperation: The format for the event is competition-style, where participating teams have the opportunity to win prizes ranging from tech gadgets to start-up coaching and participation in accelerator programs. This approach not only encourages friendly competition but also fosters a culture of collaboration among participants.
- Duration: The hackathon spanned 48 hours, commencing in the afternoon of the first day and concluding in the afternoon of the third day. This intensive timeline allowed students to immerse themselves in the challenges and explore innovative solutions.
- Participant Recruitment: An information hub was established to reach out to Zayed University students, along with several partners offering sponsorship, training, and mentorship opportunities. The goal was to create a diverse and talented pool of participants.
- Partnerships: Zayed University proactively engaged with partners such as SAP, Microsoft, Cisco, and IBM, as well as other start-up hubs, tech companies, accelerator programs, and government agencies. These partners contributed challenges, funds, mentorship, and played a crucial role in shaping the event’s success.
- Stakeholder Involvement: Representatives from partner organizations were actively involved in the event, acting as mentors, delivering thematic talks, and providing sponsorship and prizes. This collaborative approach enriched the overall experience for participants
